Water Based Lube

Water-based lube is the most versatile lubricant available and the one most buyers should start with. It is compatible with every toy material including silicone, every condom type, and every body part. It rinses clean with water, does not stain fabric, and leaves no residue. For the vast majority of uses, water-based lube is the right answer.

The main limitation is longevity. Water-based formulas absorb into skin and evaporate faster than silicone-based lubes, which means longer sessions may require reapplication. Thicker gel formulas last longer than thin liquids. For anal play specifically, a thicker water-based formula or a dedicated anal lube is worth considering since the anal canal does not produce natural lubrication.

Always use water-based lube with silicone toys. Silicone-based lube degrades silicone toy material over time. If your toy is silicone and your session is extended, reapply rather than switching lube types. Use alongside a toy cleaner to keep everything hygienic between sessions.
